Winning the Lottery

In 2008, I needed life-saving surgery due to a severe infection of Clostridium Difficile. The surgery would leave me with a changed anatomy, due to an ileostomy. My large colon had to be removed. This book shares some of the fears and concerns I had as I learned to adjust, offers some words of hope to others just starting out on such a journey. And the poems that were born of the experience, some influenced perhaps by the medications while I was in the ICU for almost two weeks. The title was came from something the chief of surgery said to me afterwards, suggesting that I had won the lottery.
